Reculver Towers are the twin towers of a 12th century church which was an important Roman Saxon 'Shore' fort and a Saxon monastery.
1st visit - 2007
Weather - very cold, clear night with no wind.
The team walked around the ruins but didn't feel very much energy as it was so cold.
Jackie 'saw' the spirit/ghost of a monk walking by one of the towers, but dismissed him as her imagination, as we had all believed the towers to be the ruins of a Roman Fort and Church. (It wasn't until after the investigation and doing some research, that we found there had also been a Saxon Monastery on this site.)
Jackie continued to see the monk so she mentioned him to the team. She took a couple of photos of where she saw the monk and a couple after he had moved away. On examining the photos, we found she had captured two 'orbs' of where she had seen the monk.
We conducted a couple of séances but didn't get any spirit communication and nothing was captured on E.V.P. The team decided to leave Reculver and return when the weather was warmer.
2nd visit - July 2008
Weather - Warm, dry summer night.
Investigators - Bill, Jackie, Paul, Donna, Rose, Terry, Kevin and Lyn.
Unfortunately, there were a lot of people visiting Reculver, which made things a little difficult.
Some members of the group felt it was too light to get started at the beginning, plus there were too many visitors to the site still walking around.
There was also a caravan site close by with a club house playing loud music.
The team walked around to get a feeling of the place.
Jackie saw what looked like a circle of monks in
the centre of the ruins. No one else picked up
on this, so she walked from the outside towards
the centre, with her eyes closed, and stopped at
the sp
ot
which felt uncomfortable. Each time this was
done she stopped in exactly the same place.
Jackie saw the monks slowly walking around in a
circle. They were dressed in black robes with
their hoods up and their heads bowed down. She
felt a lot of sadness, tears and fear. She then
saw them falling down as if they had been
killed, with what looked like swords.
Rose saw the spirit/ghost of a man sitting on the wall. She felt he was more recent than the ruins, and possibly someone who liked walking their dog in the area.
The man was thin, elderly, smoking a pipe, wore glasses, a cap and black trousers. Rose later also saw a circle of men in the centre of the ruins. But unlike Jackie she felt they were more recent than monks and possibly doing some kind of ritual, maybe black magic.
Jackie still didn't feel this, she still only
sensed the monks mentioned previously.
Jackie and Rose could have possibly been picking up two separate hauntings, as old sites are often used for Pagan rituals etc.
There are many Pagan groups around, most are earth based and working for the good. Some work good magic but there are some that cast evil and work in the dark.
Terry and Rose thought they could hear signing or humming in the ruins. But this could have been music coming from a club near by.
Séance 1
E.V.P. Spirit was asked if they would do something to make themselves known to us. We believe that we received an answer which was "NO"
Séance 2
Jackie felt spirit standing behind her but couldn't see or communicate with them.
A few minutes later Rose saw the spirit/ghost of a young girl, around 15 - 16 years old, sitting with her head in her hands crying, wearing a long dress. She felt the girl had drowned.
During another E.P.V. we recorded, where spirit was heard to say. "I want you to go away now"
This was heard after the above message.
Conclusion - Another nice location to visit. We managed to capture some bright orbs, which although we are still unsure as to whether orbs really are spirit they were at the spot Jackie actually 'saw' the spirit of a monk and we did get some interesting E.V.P.'s
